Onboarding without tab overload

Lately, Iâm most excited about how our tab management story has evolved. Weâve gone from users having little to no organization (and asking for it) to being able to organize in ways that match their own complexity. A lot of this power isnât pushedâfeatures like pinning are there if you want to reach for them. It feels easier to pick up than what we did in Arc, because it grows with you instead of being forced upfront.
Weâve got a bunch of people joining us in the coming weeksâhere's how they might get started using our latest release.
Dia from Day One
On your first day at The Browser Company, you get an onboarding doc, filled with things to know, down to the WiFi password for the office.
â-Click when you open links from the onboarding doc to automatically get a new tab group with that doc, and all the links you open from it. Every relevant link for will be together in one place.
Youâre in a meeting with your manager, and want to show up prepared. You can now Pin a Tab Group to keep it in one spot, no matter how many tabs you open. Pinned groups sync across all windows within each profile, and persist even if you close a window or restart Dia, so youâll always know where Onboarding is.
Youâre starting to write up strategy, but need to reference some materials you saw earlier in the week. Just attach the Onboarding Tab Group to any chat, and ask for what you need. Attaching a Tab Group brings more context from your tabs into Chat, getting you answers fast.
Youâve made it through your first week, and youâre starting to get the hang of things. Close out by click the X of the Tab Group. You can always find it again in the recently closed menu or History.
Also importantâwe've added Tab panel in Settings. Our defaults are strong, but opt out if something doesnât work for you. And you can always change once youâre onboarded.
Weâre ending support for Manifest V2 extensions.
Starting in next week's release, 1.17, Dia will stop supporting Manifest V2 extensions. Any V2 extensions youâve installed will stop working and display a âno longer supportedâ message.
Diaâs builtâin ad blocker remains on by default, and most popular extensions update to Manifest V3 automatically. This brings Dia in line with other Chromiumâbased browsers and removes reliance on deprecated, less secure code paths.
