Live Tab Groups are here

This is a step toward something new—the idea that your browser can automatically surface the work that matters right now, and let it fade away when it doesn’t.

Engineers, you know how it goes: you open a PR, wait for reviews, then merge. But then PR notifications get buried under email, calendar, chat, and other pings, and you have to go digging for them. That is, until this week, with the release of Live Tab Groups.

We're starting with GitHub, but this is the first Live Tab Groups launch of many. All designed to keep your most important work front and center in Dia.

Github Live Tab Groups

Now, the moment you open a pull request, Dia creates a GitHub Live Group in your sidebar. No set up required, simply create your PR.

The first time, you’ll see a quick introductory popover explaining what’s new. The Live Tab Group shows both the pull requests you’ve opened, and ones waiting on your review. It stays pinned by default, so your work is always visible even as you hop into meetings or switch projects.

As work moves forward (or merges), the Live Tab Group updates itself.

New pull requests appear when you open them, and closed or merged ones drop off, so you’re not maintaining a mental or manual checklist.

When pull requests close, they leave the Live Tab Group automatically.

No cleanup required.

Dia Browser

If Dia is unable to fetch the latest status from Github, there will be a visual cue to reauthenticate. That way, instead of refreshing and wondering what’s wrong, you know exactly what to do to get things syncing again.

Prefer a more hands-on approach? A dedicated right-click menu lets you refresh the Live Tab Group and configure what repos or PRs show up.

All of this means less time tracking down links, digging through your PR page, or remembering which PRs are still on you. And of course, more time to actually review and ship changes.

Help us build what's next

GitHub is just the beginning. At Dia, we want to reflect the reality of how you move across tools. We know that looks different for everyone, so we’re running a short survey to figure out what to bring you next. Tell us which tools you want to see live and updating in Dia →

OneLastThing

One thing I’m fired up about this week is the Olympics, especially women’s hockey. Team USA gets the games started today and I cannot wait (and I'll be wearing my Abbey Murphy sweater, of course).
