• Custom Search Engine Labels. The command bar now shows the actual matched search engine name instead of always saying "Google."
• Tool Connection Suggestions on the New Tab Page. An "all apps" bar on the New Tab Page surfaces your most-used unconnected apps for quick setup.

• Re-enable back/forward cache. Re-enables Chromium's back/forward cache for instant back and forward navigations, keeping recently visited pages alive in memory instead of reloading them.

Dia 1.36.0 sees improvements to the PiP video player as well as sync and import functionality.

• Stash your PiP. Drag a video or meeting PiP window off to the side of your screen and it sits neatly out of the way, still one click (or drag) from coming back into view. Keep your video close by, without sacrificing the screen real estate.
• Every Chrome bookmark makes the move. Dia now imports bookmarks from Chrome's account file too, so managed and enterprise Google users bring all of them along automatically.
• Tab groups stick around. We fixed a bug where tab groups could unexpectedly get deleted if you're using Sync.

Dia 1.35.0 sees performance improvements to tab closing and the bookmarks bar for a snappier overall experience.

• Out of Process Web Page Reading. An architectural change to how we process web pages for various features like Memory, which improves security against malicious web page content.

1.31.0 further weaves your tools through Dia, with richer third-party integrations.

• Stop opening PRs blind. Hover over your PRs in your Github Live Group and Dia shows you CI status and any merge conflicts so you can get a rough read on how big the diff is.
• Confluence joins the table. Confluence is now supported in Live Groups, so you can see the Confluence docs that need your attention alongside Notion and Gmail in your Docs Live Group.
• One emoji to rule them all. Tab groups now get an automatically selected emoji that represents what's inside, making them easier to scan and recognize at a glance.
• Dia checks Notion now, too. Notion mentions, comment threads, and share invites all surface in chat, so it's easier to stay caught up without context switching.

1.30.0 brings organization to the fore, with tab tidying and a redesigned overflow menu. We also added some extra analytical prowess to Dia with better file support and more accurate name recall.

• Introducing tidy tabs. If you have 10+ tabs that haven't been touched in a while, Dia will ask if you want to clean them up. One tap and they're gone, but not gone gone—just to a temporary group before archiving.
• Sometimes, thine work overfloweth. Dia's overflow menu got a full re-haul, helping you make sense of the sprawl. It shows open and recently closed tabs/groups, plus submenus for Chats & Files and synced devices.
• Pictures (and PDFs) are worth a thousand words. Dia now opens and reads Slack file attachments (screenshots, images, PDFs) so no context gets lost if it's not typed out.
• Goodbye Brendan. Hello Ben. Dia now pulls your real contact names instead of guessing from email addresses. Morning Brief (and every mention of attendees) will get your teammates right.
• Your Drive keeps you posted. Dia now surfaces your Google Drive notifications, like shared docs, comments, share requests. Try asking: "what's been shared with me recently?"

1.28.0 looks the same at first glance—until you dig in a bit more. Every surface you already touch got a pass: tighter spacing, matched colors, synced preferences, and more.

• Sidebar Visual Refresh. The sidebar got a full polish pass: tighter spacing between tabs, cleaner group styling, and neutral-colored tab groups by default for a more minimal feel.
• New Top Band Color Matching. The toolbar now accurately color-matches sticky headers, so the top of your window blends seamlessly with the page beneath it.
• Synced Settings. Your Tabs, Privacy, Profiles, Memory, Shortcuts, and Advanced preferences now sync across devices, so every copy of Dia feels like yours.
• Faster Tab Switching. We removed the legacy compositor recycling system, improving tab switching performance, enabling BFCache, and simplifying future Chromium upgrades.
• Deferred Tool Loading. Tools now load only when the model searches for them, reducing context window size and prompt noise for faster, higher-quality responses — and making room for more tools.
• International Domain Name Support. Dia now decodes punycode in the address bar, command bar, hover cards, and other surfaces so international URLs display correctly.
• Preserve Custom Tab Names in Arc Import. The Arc-to-Dia importer now carries over custom tab names set on pinned tabs or favorites, ensuring a smoother transition for Arc users.
• New Tab Page Query Restoration. Navigating back to a new tab page restores your previous command bar query and selection state, so you can quickly redirect a search without retyping.

• Better Ask-on-Page on Complex Webapps. Dia can read through iframes and shadow DOMs, boosting Ask-on-Page functionality on content-rich web apps.
• Major performance improvements. We've heard some reports about Dia sluggishness and memory leaks, especially when opening new tabs. We deployed some fixes that should improve performance dramatically. If you notice any issues, please go to "Help" -> "Record Performance Issue" — it really helps us repro!

v1.21.0 is a focused update — better battery life, more visible shortcuts, and a new way to organize your sidebar. Here's what's new:

• Sleep Fix. Dia no longer prevents your Mac from sleeping when it should. A lingering resource lock in new windows has been resolved, so your machine rests when you do.
• Tab Context Menu Keyboard Shortcuts. Right-click any tab and you'll now see keyboard shortcuts next to each menu item — including any custom ones you've assigned. Less guessing, more muscle memory.
• New Tab on Top in Sidebar. A new setting lets you open new tabs at the top of your sidebar instead of the bottom. If your workflow starts from the top, your tabs now do too.

• Proactive Suggestions. Dia now surfaces AI-powered contextual suggestions that stay in sync across windows. Suggestions are personalized, expire intelligently, and include built-in security safeguards — helping you move faster without losing control.
• Automatic Tab Group Naming. Tab Groups now receive smart, evolving names based on their content and your context. No manual naming required — your workspace stays organized automatically as it changes.
• Fix for malformed markdown hyperlinks in Chat. Resolved an issue where the assistant occasionally generated malformed markdown links that led to 404 errors when users asked for "links."
• Fix for accidental file opens from Recent Downloads. Dragging files from Recent Downloads now only drops them where intended, preventing them from also opening in their default macOS app.
• Dock new window focus fix. Creating a new window from the macOS Dock now correctly activates Dia and brings the new window to the front.
• Smarter update timing during calls. Dia now suppresses software update prompts while you're on video calls or recording your screen or a tab — so meetings stay uninterrupted.
• Copy URL as Markdown shortcut. You can now use ⌥⇧⌘C to copy the current page URL as a markdown-formatted link — bringing Arc's handy shortcut into Dia.
• Calendar badge animations. Badges appearing and disappearing on pinned tabs now animate smoothly, adding polish and clarity to status changes.

v1.18.1 makes it easier to shape your workspace around the way you work. From more intentional Tab Groups to better window restoration and faster startup on lower-spec machines, this release focuses on keeping your setup organized, reliable, and responsive. Here's what's new:

• Tab Groups are now auto-pinned. When you create a new Tab Group, it's automatically moved to your Pinned section. If you're grouping tabs intentionally, they stay anchored where you expect them — reducing the need to reorganize as your tab list grows.
• Reopen closed windows in one click. You can now restore an entire closed window from the File menu, including all of its tabs and Tab Groups. No digging through History or reopening tabs one by one — your setup comes back the way you left it.
• A cleaner, more intentional Bookmarks Bar. The Bookmarks Bar now only shows Tab Groups you've explicitly closed and moved there, and only if they aren't open in another window. What you see reflects your intent, helping your workspace stay tidy.
• Improved tab spacing and readability. We corrected a tab truncation issue in the Tab Strip when Tab Groups are present, improving spacing and label clarity so your layout feels more predictable and easier to scan.
• Close Tab Groups directly from the top bar. You can now close expanded groups without shifting your focus to the sidebar, making group management feel more natural wherever you're working.
• Scroll to background tabs automatically. When Command-clicking a link while focused on a Favorite, the sidebar now scrolls to reveal the newly opened background tab — so new work doesn't get lost offscreen.
• Copy multiple tab URLs at once. When multiple tabs are selected, you can now copy all of their URLs in one action from the context menu — helpful when sharing research or moving work between tools.
• Import Chrome Tab Groups as Bookmarks. Bringing over your setup from Chrome is now smoother, with support for importing Tab Groups directly as bookmarks.
• Dark incognito windows. Incognito windows now launch in dark mode by default, making it easier to distinguish private browsing from the rest of your workspace when switching contexts.
• Faster startup on lower-spec machines. Over time, large favicon caches could slow startup on systems with limited memory or slower storage. We now cap the cache at 1,000 entries — more than enough for everyday use — keeping launch times fast after the first run.

Dia v1.17.0 helps you stay on top of your work with Live Tab Groups. Here's what's new in the release:

• Stay on top of PRs with Github Live Tab Groups. Right-click in the sidebar or tab strip to spin up a Live Tab Group that auto-populates with your Github pull requests and the PRs that need your review. As work moves forward, the folder updates itself, so your queue stays organized without manual tab wrangling.
• A New Tab button that sticks around. When your tabs overflow in the sidebar, the New Tab button now pins to the bottom so it's always within reach. You can keep opening tabs without scrolling to find the ➕.
• Manifest V2 extensions are now disabled. Dia no longer supports legacy Manifest V2 extensions.
• Pinned extension icons fixes. We've fixed issues where pinned extension icons could fail to load, accidentally drag the window when clicked, or flicker while you re-ordered them.
• Meeting reminders in the right place. Meeting reminders now behave more predictably on multi-monitor setups and alongside floating windows.
• More reliable meeting related links in your tab group. Dia does a better job detecting and parsing meeting links when you join calls so the tabs you need open and ready.
• Meeting countdowns that nudge you to wrap up. As you get close to the end of a meeting, the meeting tab group title now gently wiggles at the 5-minute and 2-minute marks, helping you land the conversation and move on to what's next.

Dia v1.15.0 is a polish-heavy release focused on the small upgrades to the features you use every day. Here's what's new:

• Google Meet PiP share fix. Clicking Share in Picture‑in‑Picture now returns you to the Meet tab so the share dialog is accessible.
• Automatic reload after turning off ad block. Pages now automatically reload when ad block is disabled to avoid stale content.

Dia v1.14.0 is all about showing up and staying organized with Tab Groups for Meetings and a (big) handful of quality of life improvements across the browser. Here's what's new:

• Tab Groups for Meetings. Tab Groups for Meetings ship in this release, keeping your meeting tabs and related links together. Now when you join a meeting, Dia automatically creates a Meeting tab group to keep your call anchored and your meeting resources together. As you open meeting-related links, Dia drops them into the meeting's group, and the group can show how much time is left when you're close to the end. After the meeting ends, it becomes a normal tab group, with auto-cleanup behaviors so meeting groups don't turn into clutter.
• Mention Tab Groups in Chat. You can @-mention Tab Groups in assistant queries to attach all the tabs at once. Think of a tab group as a context container for bringing your work to Chat.
• Tab Group refinements. Close out tab groups in sidebar mode with a click of the X and right click to copy all URLs in a group.
• Profile-wide Tab Search. ⌘-shift-A now searches across all windows in the current profile, not just the current window.
• Customize your tabs with emojis. Choose a custom emoji/icon for any tab so it's easier to spot.
• Default profile management. Change which profile is default and delete any non-default profile (including the initial one).
• Cleaner assistant links. Links in assistant responses now show favicons, cleaned-up titles, and informative hover tooltips.
• More reliable search fetching. Assistant Google search scraping now uses rate limits and delays to avoid triggering reCAPTCHAs.
• YouTube summaries in Chat. Open Chat on any YouTube video for a pre-generated summary of the video.
• New status page. Visit status.diabrowser.com to check the status of Dia.
• Extension search engines fixed. Extensions that provide custom search shortcuts work properly again.
• Duplicating pinned tabs. Duplicating a pinned tab now opens a normal tab instead of another pinned one.

Dia v1.13.0 kicks off the new year by tidying up the everyday details in Dia.

• Tab groups improvements. Closed tab groups now overflow into a simple button instead of crowding your strip. Group menus show icons and colors to make destinations easier to spot, and new groups drop you straight into renaming so you can label projects in the moment. Command‑click‑created single‑tab groups automatically ungroup once only the original tab remains, so quick one‑offs don’t linger.
• A calmer side panel. The side panel has a refined look and no longer flickers when you move between tabs with different side panel states, keeping context changes feeling smooth and steady.
• Better ad block coverage. Ad blocker blocklists have been updated to give you better coverage while reducing odd breakages on the sites you rely on.
• No more missing favicons. Dia now pre‑warms the favicon cache on launch so icons appear right away as you restore tabs and windows. A Notion‑specific favicon bug has also been resolved, so workspaces show up with the right identity.
• Bookmarks that are easier to file. When you save a bookmark, the interstitial now shows the full folder tree inline, making it faster to drop links into the right place without digging.
• Lists in Chat that read cleanly. Chat now renders bulleted and numbered lists with correct markers and indentation, avoids hard‑to‑read lists‑in‑tables, and can auto‑correct slightly off list formatting so your writing and pasted content stay legible.
• More resilient Notion attachments. We've shipped a series of page scrapping improvements for more reliable attachments from Notion and other tools.
• A cleaner look for meeting reminders. Meeting reminders now use richer, platform‑specific branding.

Dia v1.9.0 brings powerful new ways to keep your work organized with tab groups.Here's what's new:

• Stay organized with Tab Groups. Organize your work by project, topic, or client with tab groups. Groups are color‑coded, customizable, easy to scan, and stay put so you can return to your work exactly where you left it.
• Meetings that stay in reach. A refreshed calendar experience helps you show up prepared: Dia will automatically create an Active Meeting tab group when you join calls, keep "relevant links" pointing to the right docs and boards, and show live badging on the Calendar icon so you always know how long you have until your next meeting. • More Slack in context. You can now use Slack activity search to see mentions, unreads, and recent workspace activity directly in Dia. It's a quicker way to pull up the details that matter without hunting through channels.

Dia v1.4.0 helps you find what you need, keep tabs tidy, and stay in flow. Here's what's new:

• Manage tabs with @Tabs. Open and close tabs right from chat. Great for quick clean-ups, closing out your day (and tabs!) and opening all the links for a topic.
• Pinned tabs glow‑up. Pinned tabs get a cleaner look and vibrant theme accents on select. Your ride‑or‑die tabs stay put—and you can return a pinned tab to its base URL with ⌘‑Return.
• Now you can just ask. With automatic Memory Search Dia searches your memories without having to @-mention the tool. It's profile-specific, so use your work persona (or Outie) as needed.
• Split view improvements. Two ways to split: use the nav bar split button or "Open as Split." Choosing Open as Split on the current tab creates a split with a new tab; selecting it on other tabs brings that tab in as a split.
• Haptic feedback for tab moves. A subtle nudge when you drag tabs in the strip or side nav—small polish that makes organizing feel right.
• iCloud Passkeys support. iCloud‑based passkeys now work in Dia. When a site requests a passkey, Dia queries your iCloud Keychain and prompts you to approve access.
• Faster, more resilient browsing. We've implemented HTTP/3 connections behind the scenes to reduce the number of network change errors you encounter with Dia.

Making a new Skill is as easy as writing a sentence with Dia's new Natural Language Skill Builder! You don't have to write a long, winding prompt or figure out which tool or context to call. All you have to do is ask, and let Dia do the rest.

The Skills builder has been overhauled so that all you need to do is write a simple sentence describing what you want ("help me prioritize my day," "copyedit my Slack post," "set up a weekly check‑in"), and Dia assembles the Skill: name and icon, the right tools only when they're needed (e.g., Gmail for drafts, Google Calendar for scheduling), plus a couple quick follow‑ups to fit you. You see the steps and approve — clear, in your control, every time.

To get started go to New Tab → Skills → New Skill and launch the Skill builder. Thanks for updating Dia. Look out for big small updates next week.

Today we're releasing three new Tools to Dia: Gmail, GCal, and Autofill. No more repetitive form filling, calendar searching, invite list scrambling, email rifling. Dia can now create calendar invites, search and draft emails, or fill a form right from Chat.

• Gmail: Search across your emails, find the right thread, summarize details directly in Chat. Just type @Gmail in any query to search, summarize, or start a reply.
• GCal: Take the mess out of scheduling by searching your calendar, finding times when your team is free, and staging the calendar invite for you. Type @Google Calendar in Chat to set it up without leaving your tab.
• And thirdly, Autofill: Get a head start filling out empty forms with things like your name, title, company description and even your bio. Type @Autofill in Chat when you hit a page full of boxes. And for extra details, call on Memory Search.

We've also made it faster and more flexible to work with Bookmarks:

• Save sessions at once: Hold Command to select multiple tabs (or Shift for a full row), then right‑click and choose “Add tabs to bookmarks bar.”
• Name folders upfront: When you create a new folder on the Bookmarks page, you’ll be prompted to rename it immediately.
• Quick actions in place: Right‑click on a bookmark context‑specific actions exactly where you need them.
• Open everything in a folder: ⌥‑click or ⌘‑click a bookmarks folder to open all tabs at once.
• Open a single bookmark in the background with ⌘‑click and in a split tab with ⌥‑click.

Dia v1.0.1 brings Dia to general availability on macOS! Plus, major upgrades for Skills and Memory.

• Anyone can now download Dia for macOS from diabrowser.com, create an account, and start using Dia immediately—no more waitlist.
• We've revamped the Skill builder: you can now edit Skills in a separate popup window for added ease, and build Skills with distinct steps. Give it a try by opening the "Skills" dropdown below the Command Bar and clicking "New Skill."
• The Command Bar and Skill builder now include a new toolbar for mentioning actions (like @Search Memory) and formats (@list, @table, @code, and more).
• You'll notice a shimmer animation when @-mentioning items in the Command Bar for improved visual feedback during prompt creation.
• @Search Memory now replaces @History in prompts and Skills, referencing personal context more reliably and intuitively.

This week includes a bump to Chromium 141.0.7390.66, which includes improvements to security, stability, and performance.

You can expect some big things to start shipping next week. But first, a few tweaks you’ll notice right away.

💰 Payments are back on track. We fixed an issue that was affecting payment processing on some websites. You can now pay bills, book flights, and shop without interruption. Thanks to all who reported this!

🍽️ Tables are cleaner. We also addressed a bug that was causing tables and charts to flicker while loading in Chat. Everything is smoother now: columns fit the text more naturally, and scrolling feels steadier while results arrive. To try it, just ask Dia to compare two of your tabs in a chart.

We’ve also shipped a handful of bug fixes under the hood and upgraded Dia to Chromium M141. Expect your browser to be fast, safe, and stable.

This one’s slow and steady, but expect a whole lot of momentum right around the corner. We’ll see you back here next week.

As Dia unfolds, you stay in control. See more when you want, skip ahead when you don’t, and keep common actions a click or keystroke away. Every update is about staying in flow.

⭐️ Set the pace. You call the shots, even while you wait. If Dia is using reasoning (you’ll see “Thinking deeply…”) you can click Skip >for a quicker answer.

🔍 Search with your engine. Did you know you can choose your default search engine in Settings? Then, when you type something into the Command Bar, the suggestion dropdown now shows your default search engine. Prefer Bing? Use DuckDuckGo? You’ll see your choice in the dropdown.

🪟 Split tabs on command. Option+click the New Tab (➕) button to open a New Tab Page in a Split alongside your current tab. That’s one small step to keep you organized, as easy as a simple shortcut.

🖼️ Take images with you. We continue to refine how images show up in Chat. The right‑click menu now puts familiar save and copy actions up front, so you can take your images with you without complication.

Plus some small fixes that go a long way:

• Citations are more reliable after addressing a bug where they were appearing as plain text. You'll now get hyperlinks that work when you need them.
• Replies read more naturally thanks to a prompt update that dials back heavy formatting and unnecessary lists in favor of clean, readable paragraphs. Don’t forget: you can also control how Dia responds in the Personalization pane.

Dia thinks harder when you need it most. For the past few weeks, we’ve been rolling out GPT‑5 to work with Skills and queries that use reasoning. And thanks to some changes under the hood, everything’s starting to feel just right.

When you start a query with /research or run a Skill, you’re now on GPT‑5.

This week has some updates to how answers powered by GPT-5 show up:

• Replies are easier to read with less heavy bolding, more natural paragraphs, and cleaner LaTeX formatting.
• Writing help only shows up when you need it with smarter logic for when text proposals are presented.
• Fast takeaways, then the details. Replies offer a simple answer first, then a fuller explanation if you want it.
• Chat will ask fewer clarifying questions when formulating an answer, speeding up response time.

These changes help blend GPT‑5 into Chat for a consistent experience no matter what you’re doing. As always, if anything doesn't look right, please let us know.

Plus some small tweaks with a lasting impact:

🕰️ Historic Skills. Skills now work with your history to craft bespoke results, just for you. And we’ve dropped a new Skills pack to turn yesterday’s searches into today’s reflections, recaps, and takeaways, all with the things you’ve already done.

🧳 ChatGPT import. If you've used ChatGPT in Dia, you can now import your history as Memories to add even more context. Import once, then pick up where you left off. Just head to your Personalization page and click Import from ChatGPT… to bring your past context into the present.

And major improvements to Memory for even more context as you browse:

• Memory excludes sensitive sites (like banks) and all incognito tabs, but you can also manually opt out of saving Memories from specific websites. When you do so, Dia automatically removes all previous Memories from that site too.
• Location details are more nuanced, providing sharper context for Memories while respecting your privacy.
• AI responses in Chat summaries are excluded so that Memory reflects your activity, not what an AI said. This keeps your history more personal and relevant.
• Activity summaries in Memory are formatted for quicker scanning, so you can see what matters at a glance.

Plus some helpful tweaks to your daily browsing:

🛡️ Safety with intention. Overzealous safety checks have been toned down. Expect fewer false alarms, so you only get notified when it really matters. Behind the scenes, we’re refining how Dia detects real risks so your alerts are always meaningful and accurate.

🥺 Sad tabs. We wouldn’t wish a crashed tab on anyone, but at least you’ll know when it happens with a new landing page to make those rare moments less confusing. Of course, fingers crossed it doesn’t happen. 🤞

🔖 Background bookmarks. If you’re using an external mouse, you can now open bookmarks in background tabs by clicking with your middle mouse button (or Command+click on a trackpad). It’s a small change to keep you in your flow.

• When using Reasoning, Dia can follow links from attached pages for more robust answers from deeper sources or citations.
• Fixed a bug where double window buttons (traffic lights) could appear in fullscreen. This should make fullscreen views cleaner and less confusing.
• Support for Chinese and Korean characters has been improved in the Command Bar. Thanks to all who reported any bugs.
